Landscape Architecture and Garden Design
We employ Illinois licensed Landscape Architects and designers with expertise in custom residential landscape design. After extensive site evaluations, preliminary concepts and budgets are established, enabling the client to make educated decisions based on accurate and complete information.
Step 1 - Design:
- Initial Meeting
- Receive plat map from client
- Ascertain client needs and wants
- Prioritize needs and wants
- Walk property and discuss details
- Ascertain site conditions & any problems
- Photograph property
- Measure property
- Base sheet of property showing existing conditions
Optional depending upon complexity of design:
- Conceptual design –
a loose drawing showing the location of areas, but not what plants are.
- Best time to make revisions before the drawing is finalized.
- Final design –
all areas are shown, and all plants and materials identified.
- Pricing for all work to be done
- Photos or samples of hardscape & plant materials
- Final presentation to client of design, samples, photos, and pricing.
- Sign contract & collect deposit for materials & plants.
- Schedule installation
- Order hardscape materials and plants
- Call JULIE to mark site
- Apply for permits as necessary
Step 2 - Installation:
- Inform client of start date & time
- Assign crew
- Stage, then load hardscape and plant materials
- Deliver hardscape materials to site
- Collect 2nd payment from client
- Mark hardscape areas
- Regrade or final grade as necessary
- Correct drainage problems
- Excavation
- Prepare base for hardscape
- Inspection for permit if necessary
- Install hardscape materials
- Inspection for permit if necessary
- Install lighting
- Mark planting beds
- Remove sod as necessary
- Dig bed edge or install bed edging
- Bury downspouts
- Install sprinkler system
- Bed preparation and amendment as needed
- Deliver plant material to site
- Layout/place all plant material
- Install trees & bushes
- Install perennials, groundcovers, bulbs, or annuals
Install mulch
- Repair or reseed turf as necessary or install new sod
Step 3 - Finishing Touches:
- Final site cleanup
- Collect final payment from client
